Meeting of the AHA - April 21, 2010

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Brian Greeley, in the John F. Cusack Board Room, located at 4 Winslow Street, Arlington, MA.

Present: Brian R. Greeley, Brian Connor, Richard Murray, Nicholas Mitropoulos and Teresa Walsh
Also Present: John J. Griffin, Executive Director, John L. Greco, Attorney

Notice to Town Clerk
Notice of this meeting was delivered electronically on February 11, 2010, and posted by the Arlington Town Clerk in accordance with the provisions of the Open Meeting Law.

Project Updates
The AHA is waiting to begin the Hauser project. The architect hasn't approved it. This should happen in two weeks. There is a push to spend the stimulus money.
Cusack Terrace is almost done. We are waiting for the inspection. The inspection won't be done until the subcontractor is paid $30,000.00.

Symmes Housing Update (Chris Loreti, Arlington Redevelopment Board
Chris gave an update on what is to be done with the property. JPR wasn't able to get a construction loan and they are pulling out. The bank deemed Timber Ridge acceptable.
There are 2 steps that have to be taken. One is the Land Disposition and the second is Granting of special permits.
There are to be 115 townhouses built. 15% of the units are to be affordable housing and 5% are for middle income. Chris said that the Board hasn't accepted any proposals. He said that the Town Manager is pushing to have something built on the land.
Mr. Greeley said that we support the affordable housing task force.
Upon a motion by Mr. Murray and seconded by Mr. Mitropoulos it was unanimously voted to support the affordable housing task force.

CFA Kitchen and Bath Amendment increase $19,552.20 to $13,318,436.58

Upon a motion by Mr. Greeley and seconded by Mr. Murray it was unanimously voted to approve the CFA Kitchen and Bath Amendment increase.

FSS Grant $66,600. Mr. Griffin said that we received $66,600.00 for the FSS Coordinator position.
Boys and Girls Club Dinner & FIHO Dinner
Mr. Griffin wanted to know who was going to the Boys and Girls Club Dinner and the FIHO Dinner.
Board Minutes February 2010 and March 2010
Upon a motion by Mr. Greeley and seconded by Ms. Walsh it was unanimously voted to approve the minutes for the February Board Meeting.

Upon a motion by Mr. Greeley and seconded by Mr. Murray it was unanimously voted to approve the minutes for the March Board Meeting.

May 19th Board Meeting at Thompson School
Mr. Griffin said that the next Board Meeting will be held at the Thompson School and that refreshments will be served.

CDBG Grant $150,000.
Mr. Griffin reported the AHA will receive $150,000 grant from CDBG Funds for a unit for domestic violence or a safe house. Mr Greeley was responsible for submitting the grant request.

Smoking Update
Mr. Griffin inquired with DHCD about have a smoke free building and they said that they have enough lawsuits and they aren't willing to take this on. They don't want to change the regulations

Old Business
Ms. Walsh said that she went to Washington, D.C. seminar with Mr. Griffin and she brought back information that she handed out to the Board Members.
Mr. Murray wanted to congratulate Ms. Walsh on her re-election to the Board for another five years.

The meeting was adjourned 8:15 PM.
Upon a motion by Mr. Murray and seconded by Mr. Mitropoulos it was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting.
The next meeting will be May 19, 2010 and held at the Thompson School at 7PM.
